Dumfries and Galloway is characterised by a range of habitats, from the coastal areas of the Solway Firth and conifer forests of Galloway Forest Park, to the many lochs that are situated around the region.

On these pages you will be able to find out more about the different habitat types that can be found in Dumfries and Galloway, focussing on those covered in the Local Biodiversity Action Plan (LBAP). Each page will highlight some of the species that they support, as well as give examples of where each habitat can be found. Habitats which are listed as priorities in the LBAP are flagged with a leaf icon.
