Neighbourhood Nature Watch
The Neighbourhood Nature Watch project aimed to raise awareness of biodiversity, to increase opportunities for local communities, to find out about plants and wildlife in their local area and to encourage people to make records of the wildlife they see.
Invasive Plant Species Within The East Stewartry Coast National Scenic Area
The 'Invasives' project aimed to map and report on invasive plant species to the relevant communities within the East Stewartry Coast National Scenic Area (NSA), enabling them to take appropriate action.
Welcome to Wildlife booklet revision
DGERC has been asked by Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) to re-design and update their popular Welcome to Wildlife in Dumfries and Galloway booklet. The booklet highlights the many species, habitats and sites that are of special importance in the region. Although it is mainly targeted at visitors to the region, it provides valuable lists of places to go and things to see for local residents too. It will be made available free through Tourist Information Centres, tourism providers and at visitor attractions across the region. It is planned that the new publication will be available in spring 2008 in time for the main tourist season and the Dumfries and Galloway Wildlife Festival. A copy of the existing leaflet can be downloaded from the SNH website (see under News).
The new booklet has now been published and is available to download from the downloads page and should shortly be in Tourist Information Offices around the region. You can also get a printed copy direct by sending an A5 SAE to the DGERC office.
